The search is on for an ancient disc for upon its surface is written the formula for a destructive chemical that could be used to crush countries in evil warfare should it fall into the wrong hands. Professor Hargraves (JAMES DURKIN) and his pretty daughter, Pauline (EVALYN KNAPP) seek to acquire the disc to safeguard the world. But the malevolent Eurasian Dr. Bashan (JOHN DAVIDSON) stalks their trail determined to steal the formula for his own criminal purpose. Enter two-fisted engineer Robert Warde (ROBERT ALLEN) to lend aid to the Hargraves and to become embroiled in the deadly PERILS OF PAULINE. Join their search through wild jungles to find lost temples while warding off savage natives, an army of apes, death dealing tigers and killer sharks!
This is an excellent print of a rare cliffhanger serial from the era of early Talkies. This is a well mounted production with a large cast set in exotic locations. Evelyn Knapp reprises the role of Pauline make famous in the original silent film version starring Pearl White. John Davidson (ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN MARVEL) makes a menacing villain whose glare can stop you cold. He is aided in his evil intentions by Fang ably played by veteran villain Frank Lackteen. These early serial ran longer than later productions so the running time for this epic is just scant minutes under four hours.
